We contacted Jimmy to talk to our teenage daughter who was being recruited for various NCAA Division I programs. Knowing that she had people watching her during her athletic events, her performance declined. With talking to Jimmy and developing some coping mechanisms, her performance rose to the levels she was at before. Jimmy’s constant engagement and coaching were invaluable and helped our daughter with receiving an athletic scholarship to the University she wanted to attend. We would highly recommend Jimmy and his services.

I worked closely with Jimmy regarding academic counseling for well over 100 students in the three years he served at the United States Naval Academy (USNA). He has been at all times professional, insightful, compassionate, and dependable.  Jimmy goes out of way to assist students in need. He has worked as a freshman advisor, economics major advisor, faculty representative for the Varsity Baseball and a coach for the Varsity Sprint Football team. All of these roles have given him significant access to students outside of the classroom.

I have asked him on numerous occasions to meet with specific student seeking advice or simply a positive role model. Many of these meetings are with students placed at risk based on their preparation before coming to the Academy; he has an ability to show them that they belong here and inspires them to achieve more than they otherwise thought possible. He has always been flexible and patient with students. He possesses the right balance between empathy and directness with students. He is an excellent listener and problem solver. His caring attitude toward students and basic counseling skills are top notch at USNA.

Jimmy has been instrumental in supporting the various talent development and leadership activities at Client Solution Architects. His knowledge and research in the areas of goal theory and motivation have been integral in building a foundation for leadership training curriculum and content. Jimmy is very knowledgeable, is a hard worker, and achieves above and beyond results as a leader and manager. A true servant leader!

Jimmy is a consummate professional: competent, reliable, and mature. He is extremely smart, efficient, and well-liked. He established himself as a highly effective instructor, resource manager, and department leader, with a strength in building unit cohesion, both in and out of the classroom. I recommend him without reservation to any organization interested in a careful thinker and unifier, excellent speaker, and more generally, pleasant personality. He is one of the best officers and colleagues I have worked with since coming to the United States Naval Academy (USNA) in 2000.

In the classroom Jimmy was a strong communicator and a popular instructor. On course evaluations, Jimmy was consistently ranked at the top of the Economics Department. He is able to organize and present challenging material. He makes good use of the available technology, and he possesses the ability to make the abstract concepts more concrete. He has very good rapport with students and he possesses a strong sense of what students need to succeed.

Jimmy has helped me in various ways in regards to my mental preparation on the football field. I am a Division I football player for Western Carolina University.

I’ve learned to control certain aspects of mental preparation such as positive self talk, imagery, and self confidence. Jimmy taught me to focus on thoughts and events that I can control, such as my attitude, positive thought patterns during the game, and how to support my teammates. Jimmy also taught me to not harp on the negatives of my play and to keep moving forward.

Personally the biggest improvement that I’ve seen in my game is how I prepare for opponents every week. I take each game the same and treat every opponent the same, and I never let the highs get to high or the lows get too low.

Over the past two seasons Coach Karam helped us improve from a 3-8 season to Palomar League Champions.  His performer-centered approach inspired his leadership lessons, guidance, and training to help empower players and coaches on their path to continuous improvement!

His weekly recaps are great!  As always, his feedback gets me to reflect, focus on what's going right, and think ahead to the next game.  I truly appreciate it!

I had the pleasure of hearing Jimmy speak at a Toastmasters event last year. I immediately knew I wanted him to work with my son, a high school competitive basketball player who was team captain of his team. He immediately connected with my son and he made quite an impact right off the bat. My son started using a lot of the skills for mental focus and leadership. We soon had Jimmy out to work with the team and once again, he made a connection. The team took what Jimmy worked with them on and they went on to win their conference for the first time ever at their high school! Between working with my son and the team, Jimmy was able to instill focus, motivation and teamwork skills that took us to the top! Great way to end my son's senior year of high school!
